Copywriting is just as essental for social market as for your website, blog, flyers and sales letters — maybe even more, because every word counts. Here are 5 mistakes that many tweeters make (even when they’re experienced).
Mistake #1:Tweeting without an identity
Is your Twitter profile missing a photo? A one-line description of what you do? If you do a lot of things, pick one identity to associate with your name. For instance, if you’re a photographer AND a therapist, you might have 2 Twitter accounts one for each.
Should you x-reference? Depends on your market.
Mistake #2: Tweeting with multiple identities
Just today I went to the Twitter home page of someone who followed me. “Helen” described herself as a coach and facilitator of personal growth seminars. But her tweets and her website were all about saving money, getting out of debt, and fixing your car with a pair of tweezers and a toothpick. (OK, I’m exaggerating - but I want to keep “Helen” anonymous, which she will be anyway).
Mistake #3: Tweeting to benefit the optometry profession
Did you set up your Twitter page so the background has info about you in tiny type? Maybe gray type on a pale blue background? Hey, we’re looking at Twitter pages all day long. Make yours easy to read.
