When clients ask me, “Can I do my own copywriting?” they expect me to talk about learning techniques, such as headlines, bullets, openings and closes. Instead, I suggest they say, “Get started with the copywriting mindset. It’s about thining more than writing.”
When an ordinary person creates an info product, she creates the product and then writes the sales letter. When a marketing-oriented copywriter creates a product, she writes the sales letter first.
When an ordinary person writes website copy, he begins by thinking about what he wants to share. A copywriter begins by asking, “What do I want clients to do after they read this page?”
Ordinary people focus on what they will do for their clients. Copywriters begin the creation process by asking, “How will my clients benefit? What are the tangible outcomes they will enjoy?”
