Want to attract more traffic to your site? Get other sites to link to you…but not just any sites. Some sites will do you a lot more good than others.

That’s the message from Deb Kirby, the Internet Biz Examiner from Salt Lake City. See the whole entry here.

Kirby identifies four qualities of websites that will provide good inbound links:

  • The site linking to you should have an Alexa ranking that’s as least as high as yours.
  • The site linking to you must have relevant content. For instance, I shouldn’t try to get links to my copywriting website from sites dealing with gardening, cooking or even dogs.
  • Older sites have more value. So try to get links from sites that have been around awhile.
  • Link from a website that uses the keywords your own target market uses to find you. Clients often find my site by typing in “service business” or “professional service business.” So I should try to get links from sites that use those keywords….which of course I need to  feature in my own sites.

These tips are very good. In a future post I will talk more about how to get these wonderful sites to link to you. Meanwhile, I include lots of traffic tips with my info product, “Hook Your Clients.” Learn more here.
